Buskers battle it out for prizes

James Morrison did it all over Cornwall and Elvis was partial to a bit of it too.

Yes, both started off as buskers and now St Austell’s retailers are on the lookout for the best the town has to offer.

St Austell town centre is hosting a battle of the buskers’ competition on Saturday 30th August with the winner receiving a £50 music voucher with runner up prizes of £25 worth of music vouchers for second place and £10 vouchers for third place.

Throughout the day, shoppers will be handed a token with their change to give to their favourite performers. The entertainer with the most tokens at the end of the day will be declared the winner.

White River Place Operations Manager, Sarah Pechkaytis said: “We know plenty of us have got the X Factor and lots more have got talent. And one place this is abundantly clear is on our streets. So attention all you unsung musical heroes - or as we like to call you – buskers.”   The event is being hosted by St Austell Business Improvement District (BID) and full details can be found by visiting the town centre Facebook page
